While i am practicing , i created a record type and when i am trying to generate record event types , i am getting an error " You must have edit access to at least one of the applications this record type is in to generate event record types ".

Please suggest here, because i am the application creator , still i am getting the error.

It seems that your Record Type is not added to any Application. Add your Record Type to your application before creating an Event Type.

For me I had to go and check for 'Missing Precedents' and then there was a 'Data Source' object missing precedents related to the new record type. Once it was fixed I was able to see the 'Generate Event Record Types' button enabled

Solution worked for me. But need to understand, why it got missed, where or when I did this mistake.

Seems that you don't have the proper rights in the applications you are trying to work with.......

I had to go to the application security and add my user id as an admin to get it to work

I added my user id as an admin in the application security and it worked too. Thanks

I am having the same issue for step-by-step # 5. I am in the system administrator group for the app. I have tried Travis Leffert's idea in his post to no avail. I created the record within the Acme Automobile app so Yogi Patel's solution doesn't seem to be relevant to my case. I did do what they recommended and manually added the record to the Acme Automobile app just in case. I have also checked for missing precedents but don't have any. Am working within Appian Community edition. Not sure where to go from here. Have manually sinked the record several times as I tried different things out.

Could you add more details, like for example screenshot explaining your problem?

I'm actually experiencing the same thing today. It worked fine last week. I'm working through the examples from the developer training, and when trying to added record events to the new record type I get this:

I felt like that was odd, so I checked security on the application and I'm in as an admin, so the error isn't making sense to me:

I had added record events to a record type last week, and it had worked fine. I just went back to check and it is now showing the same error as well:

Finally, checked to see if somehow there were missing precedents and nothing shows:

Is there anywhere else I should be looking to resolve this issue? I'd like to move on with the training, but need to complete the exercise first!

Go Application Object View, Select the record type and select the add existing, then click on add and check for missing precedent. Then A connected system for the data source will appear as missing precedent. Add then connected system to Application and reopen the recordtype. It will work 100%.

Great. This solution work for me. Thanks, bro, for your help. Much Appreciated.

I solved this issue by going back to the 'Build an Application_ Step-by-Step 3' instructions. In the 'Knowledge Center' folder, the user security settings need to be changed to 'Editor'.

I am experiencing this issue as well and have tried all of the proposed solutions in this thread to no avail. What else can I try? ( context: I am doing the acme auto step by step exercises)

Hey [mention:10d6b490b44245b2aeaa18736c526032:e9ed411860ed4f2ba0265705b8793d05] ,

I have faced the same issue recently so I created a new application and moved the main record type from the existing application to the new application and generated the event record type. It worked for me.

I did the 'Missing Precedents' and it fixed my first record type Vehicle. Then I have to same problem with record type Maintenance. I did all the steps mentioned in this thread (missing precedents, add myself as admin, removed and add it back, full sync, ...) but not successful. I am stuck at this step.  Are there any other recommendation I can try? Thanks
