The grid is configured using a Record Type as the data source.

The user needs Viewer rights on the Record Type (and any related Record Types used in the grid).
Record Type security is separate from site/interface security.

This most likely is a security permission issue. Give the user appropriate permission to record type involved. Also, check if all users are affected or it involves any specific user
