Is there a way to get the information in UI apart from designer for object comparison results modified in last 1 week by particular resource?

Is there a way to get the information in UI apart from designer for object comparison results modified in last 1 week by particular resource?

Senior leadership wants to see report on Appian resource productivity and how many object being changed and what changes they are doing in some UI report instead of going into dashboard. They need to showcase the tracking possibility without going into designer.

I’d question this type of reporting.  I could spend quite a bit of time creating a complex interface and only modify a few objects.  I could also spend the same amount of time updating a lot of objects due to them all needing a minor change.  A count of the objects I changed doesn’t show home much time it took to perform the work.

If it’s really needed, the design_objects.csv log captures changes.  There is a Log Reader plug-in that will allow you to read the file, which you can then parse/save/report on the data needed.

You can build a custom dashboard using Appian’s design object logs to track which developer modified which objects and when. This report can be filtered by developer and date range, so leadership can view the details without accessing Designer.

However, to show exactly what changed inside each object, you may need additional logic to compare object versions.

Yes, you can do this by building a custom reporting interface using Appian's design_objects.csv audit log. Appian maintains this log under <APPIAN_HOME>/logs/audit/, which captures design object activities, like Timestamp of the change, Username of the developer, Object UUID and object type, Action performed (Create, Update, Delete)

As Keitht mentioned it is not useful to identify how much level of effort each developer put to update those objects. The important considersation here is the audit log tracks object-level activities but does not provide the detailed before-and-after comparison of object definitions available in Designer. Also, multiple updates to the same object can generate multiple log entries.

If you still need a report I will recommentd this approach.

  • Retrieve the design_objects.csv log using an appropriate log-access mechanism, such as the Log Reader.
  • Parse the CSV data and store the relevant information in a database table.
  • Create an Appian Record Type and reporting interface.
  • Filter by developer and date range (for example, the last 7 days).
  • Display metrics such as total objects modified, unique objects changed, and the number of changes by object type or developer etc.

Hope this helps
