What is the relationship between RWM(Robotic Workforce Manager) and UiPath?

I need to setup an intergration between UiPath and Appian, and have learned that by using the "Appian Activities" utility and "UiPath Connector" plug-in,

the connection between the two could be done.

Meanwhile, I also notice that when searching related information through Appian Document,

UiPath seem to be associated with RWM to some extent.

I would like to confirm that whether I need a RWM in order to finish the setup.

Does anyone have any idea about how RWM function within the process indicated as the picture above.
