KB-1671 "Unable to decoding KResponse" error while upgrading from Appian 18.2 to 18.3

Symptoms

While upgrading to Appian 18.3, the process analytics engines remain either in REPLAYING or DOWN state. The service_manager.log in <APPIAN_HOME>/logs/ displays the following error: 

Unable to decoding KResponse

Cause

The error occurs when the data between the process analytics and process execution engines is out of sync. 

Action

Reset the process analytics engines using the ResetAnalytics Script.

Affected Versions

This article applies to Appian 17.3 and later.
