KB-1061 User experience degrades using Internet Explorer 11

Symptoms

User experience degrades after substantial use with Internet Explorer 11 running on a Windows 7 operating system.

Cause

This is due to Internet Explorer 11 update 11.0.9600.18059 released on 31 October 2015 via KB3093983 and is caused by a memory leak in the spelling correction add-on.

Action

The memory leak has been addressed by Microsoft in Internet Explorer version 11.0.9600.18100. Please apply the latest security update from Microsoft to take advantage of the fix.

Workaround

To work around the issue, users can disable spelling correction in Internet Explorer by performing the following steps:

1. Click on the gear icon in the top-right corner of the Internet Explorer.
2. Click Manage Add-ons.
3. In the list on the left of the Manage Add-ons window, click on Spelling Correction.
4. In the bottom-left corner of the Manage Add-ons window, uncheck the box for Enable spelling correction.
5. Close and reopen Internet Explorer.
