Hello Appian Engineering, Like to suggest : Scenario : When a developer working on any object rules , It could be UI or expression or model Appian always had version from past 12plus years Which is good As we progress it will be good to have save and commit 1. Save basically a developer works whole day in dev and keep saving not to lose his work but that does not mean it’s working and ready for others to use 2. Commit when developer decides it’s ready for checkin and can be used in site other he needs to commit and mandatory to write comments May be a ticket that developer is working against or an enhancement for targeting a particular release Many times we see 100s of versions but more than 75% are just saves of a line change and dev testing how it looks etc and after ten saves developer decides good for real change and closes that piece of work Just compare how eclipse or vscode git integration works Even further shelving concept from Microsoft Having been 12yrs with appi
We intend to incorporate Appian into our existing application (development) landscape. Now questions pop up like what do we do with it and what don't we do in the application development area.In terms of application development now more focused on .Net/C# and a few apps on the MS power platform. Adding Appian means additional exploitation costs, investment in knowledge and employees. In terms of application development, should we now focus entirely on Appian and phase out the rest?
so I need to indicate the status completed between 2 values so I want to show that value 1 is completed and it is proceeding towards value 2 for this it should be between these 2 values . I am using milestone function but in it either it is at value 1 or value 2 . Is there any other function or any way using the same milestone function I can do this .
loan application flows to the Manager to process it further. The manager has 3 sub-ordinates to whom he assigns the applications for further processing. Requirement#1: As a manager, I should be able to configure the percentage allocation for each staff members. Requirement#2: As a manager, I want the system to auto assign the ingested cases(requests) to the staff members in the configured percentage. where to start and what to do to implement this .. like can anyone please guide step by step for this
Hello, I have an ask to insert a generated PNG file into an HTML document we generate through the "HTML Doc From Template". This document is then later converted to PDF which is given to the user. The image generation and PDF generating is working fine, however I cannot get the image to appear in the template. I've found many older forum posts saying to convert the image to Base64, but it appears the functionality to generate the base64 within a process model has been removed from Appian. I cannot pre-generate the Base64 as the image itself is generated on the fly and then deleted within the same process. Any ideas? Thank you!
May I know some set Best Practices to be followed to improve the performance of the application(all Appian objects) because I had a scenario where main landing page is taking 20 seconds to load on site Thanks!
Hello guys I want to make a working hours system application which let the users insert their working hours, then the app calculates if they reached to the require hours or not. what I need to know exactly is how can I create a user input to let the users insert their information. Can anyone guide me please?
Hello Community, It has been a standard for a while to store usernames in audit fields in Appian apps. A while back Appian added the ability for users to change their username. I am just looking to see if this changed your approach for audit fields.
difference between script task and user input task? And why we use? And when we use?
Hello all, I'm trying to connect to a VPN for the first time, but when I did, I got the following error, I don't know it might be wrong, I checked the documentation and put all the settings right. I don't understand what is wrong.
Hello communityI am currently thinking a lot of the kind of super limited way of appian dealing with big decimal numbers.Example: 12313139.1 as input will result in: 1.231314e+07 If you want to transfer this number via API (JSON input) that will cause issues as the receiving system cannot deal with the ‘e+07’ in the end. -> is there any other approach to solve this except converting it into a string? The API developer will think we are unreasonable to have a decimal regardless how big, should be a text. Its not helping appians reputation withing the clients company there.(and i can understand their thinking) What are your thoughts on that? Do I miss there something?
Hi everyone, Can anyone explain the purpose of using constant ? I know that constant is literal values, and it can be resued in multiple objects. Is there any purpose of using constant ? Moreover, when we will create constant in application ? Thanks!
Hi, I am looking to understand if there have been use cases where users have built apps using the Customization route instead of Configuration/Supported Customization, because Appian did not have the capability out of box. Thanks V
I just wanted to build a custom code review tool to analyze the project and verify best practices are followed. kind of alternative for Appian Health check.
Hi all, Our application has about 80 interfaces - small pages/lists/dialogs to do various things. We also defined about 25 record types with some that have reached 100 fields (max limit) What would be the recommended approach? 1 - try to keep 1 to 1 relation between interface to record type - many small record types with only the fields that are needed directly by the interfaces and related rules OR 2 - try to have only a few massive record types - with max amount of columns/fields and reuse across many interfaces - generic massive rules that selects anything with a million filtering options thank you
Hi, I have upgraded Fitnesse to newest version, also copied test suites from old fitnesseroot to new fitnesseroot folder. Now when I run Fitnesse GUI I do not see my test suites, however it shows in search result. How can I make my old test suites visible on front page ?
Hi All, I have started my Appian journey and want to understand the roles and responsibilities of an Appian analyst plays in the SDLC lifecycle. Have gone the Appian Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), but it has point of view from the developers standpoint. So looking towards the community to guide me in the appropriate direction. Thanks.
Is there a way to list expression rules which do not have a test case?
Hi, is there any recommended/possible way to get all nodes for some process model as a List of node names or something similar? I have a specific requirement where I have to track what is already done and what has to be done and display the 'journey' on an interface. Although I know there can be several possible paths of executing future nodes (Based on a logic stored in gateways), I need to create an interface which will track what is already done and what else has to be done. The main problem is how to fetch all process nodes dynamically, by some function or something similar. As process will change from time to time, keeping track of process nodes in some parallel db tables and mapping it to process state is not a solution I would like to implement. So If I have a following process model (this is just a simplified sketch, the real process model won't be linear and will have several possible flows): I want to be able to show a flow status grid on a separate interface, s
In what situations would any of you use an asynchronous sub-process as opposed to the start process smart service. Based on my understanding, because the smart service will better balance the execution engines without any other negative impacts - I don't see the scenario where I would ever use an asynchronous sub-process. Can someone please elaborate if there is something that I may be missing? Thank you!
Hi Team, I am working on building a performance test approach including platform baseline, benchmark for future growth and identifying when to scale infra and system capabilities. Can anyone share the 1. Performance test objectives at a platform level 2. Parameters to monitor at platform level 3. metrics for platform performance 4. Recommended resolutions (Eg. Adding more CPU) Thanks in advance
Is there an alternative to eval() where I can evaluate a text input as part of the code? And also, why is it not a best practice to use the eval()?
Hello community, did you try use in the html template js or css by using external sources? My observation shows that Appian probably cleaning up the external sources. So, do you have any experience how to prepare nice html templates from Appian? Thanks in advance, Pavol
Hi All, We have a requirement where we need to automatically save data to DB from site page if user is not performing any action for defined time. Please make a note that we looking for a solution which would save data without any user interaction.Any help is highly appreciated. Thanks!Mayur Mondhe
Hi folks,is tought I just share some informationen regarding IDP (intelligent document process processing) and different picture formats. The following question arose during a RFI creation - can Appian deal with different file formats regarding IDP? Problem: IDP can just deal with PDF So I tried to convert the following most common picture file formats to PDF, so IDP can deal with it. Testing design: User input/Form with a file upload field. Submitting it (document array) using "Convert Image to PDF" Smart service ("PDF Tool"- Plugin) -> so YES Appian can deal with different picture file formatsI think, there is no barrier for its IDP solution. (not verified yet).Perhaps this is interesting for my fellow designers and I wanted to share this piece of information. From further investigations: Multi page TIFF is working fine. Creating a 110 Pages PDF (11 Files of 10 page TIFF) was not an issue. The final size of the PDF w
