New to Appian

Hi everyone, I am new to Appian and facing challenges in using customFieldPicker, we need to implement: Do we have any Field where user can search for exiting list of values from database, and if value(text column in our case) is not there in the list then whatever value user has typed in can be written to DB on the form submission. Later the value will become part of the list. We implemented it like this: We have one table having 2 fields- id and text only. The ER we created is attached below: We are unable to save the value. Please let me know what I am doing wrong. Thank you!

So I am working toward getting my Senior Developer Certification. One of the major components of the Exam seems to be Database Management. I am well versed with RDBMS but wanted to understand the scope as far as certification is concerned. I see "Appian Advanced Data Design Training". However it is Instructor Led only. There is no self study option. Not only can't I find anything on schedule in the "Americas" for the Instructor led course, I would rather study on my own time. I simply want to know what topics are covered in the Instructor Led course. Hopefully this is public information and can be shared? Thanks in advance

Thought I would ask here to draw awareness. Going through the Portals Course - specifically the Publishing Portals Course. At the end there is a tutorial that needs the Wyndhamm Power Outage Application. Only I cannot find the application in the Appian Community Edition. Did someone at Appian forget? Or am I supposed to find the package somewhere and import it. Hopefully someone has solved this problem already.

Hi, I am taking the service name from drop down field from interface and mapping it to following variable. After that I am uploading excel as below: Following is the rule I am using in script task and saving its value into Boolean type variable 'flag'. My requirement is if pv!Service_name=pv!cdt.srvc_nm then it should go to XOR path otherwise send email path.  if I change the value in excel rows the flow is not going in appropriate way. Hi, I am trying to download the Data Store Entity in to excel. If I don't give any selection and filter criteria only 5k records are downloading & if I give selection & filter criteria only 1k records are downloading, but I expect more records to be download. Is there any limitation from Appian to download the records from data store entity, If yes, then how much records?  Thanks, Kiran

How can we add something like an "Upload" or "Preview Document" button on the form that submits (typically without validation), and simply chains back to itself - this will give the user the impression they have not left the form, but turns the document into an official object that can then be previewed.

Is there any way we can build an organization chart using Hierarchy Browser Tree Component where we get data from a data subset? I tired referencing the link - https://docs.appian.com/suite/help/20.3/Hierarchy_Browser_Tree_-_Contact_Management.html. But I was not able to download the Contact Management application. Hello, Is there a way to check case sensitivity on the value I pass in? Also, is there any other way to check the data type of the value?For example,  1) Want to check if the value corresponding to the date type is actually using the date type correctly? 2) Want to check whether the value corresponding to the string type uses only uppercase letters, only lowercase letters, and whether special symbols are combined. I have been trying to build the SpaceX Launch app and I made a mistake. I want to delete the total instance and all associated records so that I can start again fresh. I thought I had done that but its coming up as SPX_GetALLLaunches1_record Data Source.  How can I completely reset and start again?  Also I have version 22.3 and the PDF is instructions for Version 22.2 and their are a few differences. Hi! I have a variable number of elements composed of richtext and grid. Previously I used a columnsLayout which allowed me to put 3 elements in a row, but if I have more of them it's not readable. Currently I'm looking for a solution to have a row for every 3 element I have in data. I wanted to use a counter inside a forEach, but it seems that it's not working like in other programming languages. So I would like to know which is an optimal solution to create a layout of variable number of elements.

Hi, Learning Appian RPA from the Appian course. Came along a scenario where I need to modify the Target variable. See screen shot. If you see the annotated area I cannot view the fields of restaurants..just the first few letters of the word restaurant.  in this case, I have 4 fields in the restaurant table so no problem but if I have a huge table and need to select any field from there it will be a difficult job (or I need to see my CDT and figure out my column number of the field and the count and select it in the Target dropdown values (not a good way but that's a workaround)  Can this be fixed. Can the window that shows the fields of restaurant table appear on the left side instead of right so that I can view the complete field name?? I do not know how to put this problem across Appian so raising it here thanks jaideep
