In my development work, I’m using several tools: `dev mcp`, `mcp doc`, `dev mcp skill`, and `aurora mcp`.I’m wondering about the difference between using `dev mcp skill` and `aurora mcp`—do their functionalities overlap, or are they meant for different purposes? As I understand it, `dev mcp skill` already covers the same ground as `aurora mcp`. Could someone please clarify? https://github.com/appian-design/aurora-mcphttps://github.com/appian/dev-mcp-skills

How can we safely automate system-generated verification texts into our workflow without using a physical mobile line?

Hello Appian Community,I'm currently investigating password visibility behavior in an Appian Cloud environment running version 26.6.The native Appian username/password login page displays a masked password field, but there is no visible eye icon or Show/Hide Password option.Interestingly, the password visibility option appears to be available during the password reset/change workflow, creating an inconsistent user experience.I reviewed the following areas in the Administration Console: Authentication → Sign-In Page: Provides identity provider configuration, but no password visibility setting. Branding → Sign-In and Tempo: Provides logo and appearance customization, but no password visibility setting. I would appreciate clarification on the following: Does Appian 26.6 support a native Show/Hide Password toggle on the initial login screen? Is there a supported configuration or feature flag to enable this functionality? Why might password visibility be available during password rese

For Appian AI Skill for Document Classification how to check, how many AI Actions it consumed. I can able to check for the GenAI skills on object itself or in output tab of the process node only but not for the classification type AI skills. Cause we have 200K Ai actions per month to spend for Appian Standard Tier. Just need to check how we can find out the expenditure of AI actions for the Classification AI Skills.

Hi ,We recently upgraded our platform to version 26.9. After the upgrade, we noticed that the AI Skill object is still showing input and output token consumption. As per our understanding, in version 26.9 it should show AI Actions consumed instead of input/output tokens.Has anyone else observed this behavior after upgrading to 26.9? Is there any additional configuration or update required for existing AI Skill objects to reflect AI Actions consumed? Thanks!

They look similar to me but i am sure there is something that i am missing. When would you use one vs another (example)? Appreciate your help and comments as i navigate and learn Appian. Thank you!

My question is: If I want to check whether a student has passed based on a minimum passing mark, should I store the passing mark in a constant and use that constant in an expression rule?

Can we add Hotjar, Microsoft Clarity, or any other behavioral analytics tool to our Appian instance? We'd like to know whether it's possible and, if so, what the recommended approach is.

Hi everyone, I am looking for some guidance on an Appian requirement and would appreciate hearing from anyone who has implemented something similar. We have ‘Extra Long Text(64000)/Long Text fields(4000)’ where users enter content through the Styled Text Editor component. The entered content is stored in the database with the corresponding HTML tags. We now have a requirement to export this data in a Word document while preserving the formatting exactly as entered by the user. This includes:Bold, italic, underline,.. Tables Paragraphs and other rich text formatting supported by the Styled Text Editor componentThe Word document should ideally retain the original formatting rather than displaying the underlying HTML tags.Current Approach:Currently, we are using [Advanced Document Templating - DOCX Document From Template] smart service plugin to generate the Word document by providing a template along with the data in XML format. However, we must strip the HTML tags from the styled text da

Hi everyone.I’m trying to create an interface to display my company's sales representatives' visits—filtered by date and person—in a pie chart (*PieChartField*). The problem is that the result can exceed 5,000 accumulated records (Visits), causing me to lose information. How can I do to solve this problem?

Hi all,I’m building an internal application in Appian, which we’re calling “Wikipedia Page Maker.” It manages requests for drafting articles and getting them reviewed and approved before delivery. I’m fairly new to designing multi-stage approval flows and would appreciate guidance on the right architecture. What the process needs to do:A requester submits a content request through a form (subject, source links, deadline, priority). The request is stored and assigned to a writer. The writer submits a draft, which goes to a reviewer. The reviewer can approve it or send it back with comments for revision, and this can repeat. After approval, the request moves to final sign-off and is marked complete. If a review sits for more than 14 days, it should escalate or notify a manager. What I’m trying to figure out:Should the request be modelled as a record type with a process model driving the stages, or should the status live only in process variables? What is the cleanest way to handle the revi

Hello! I'm new to Appian, I've already completed the Appian Developer learning path exercises. Will there be other exercises that I can do or that they can share with me, and continue practicing with Appian?

Hi Everyone, I’m hoping to get some advice from the community on how to learn Appian Custom Plugin development. I have 3.5 years of experience as an Appian developer and am familiar with standard Appian development (SAIL, records, process models, integrations, etc.). However, I have no experience with custom plugin development. I have reviewed the Appian documentation, but I feel like I’m missing a learning path. It’s difficult to figure out: How to start as a beginner What are the actual prerequisites are How to go from developing plugin code to testing in Appian What a good first plugin project should entail I would greatly appreciate any advice from anyone who has experience with: A learning path for plugins Examples or GitHub repos for beginners Advice on local Appian development for testing plugins Things you wish you had known when you started Any advice, links, or personal experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

This code does not allow to save input just because I initiate the locals as nulls ( I need them like that for it to be clean and tidy as an interface). a!localVariables( local!words_en:null, local!words_de:null, { a!boxLayout( label: "Add Words", contents: { a!sideBySideLayout( items: { a!sideBySideItem( a!tagField( tags: a!tagItem( text: "English", backgroundColor: "SECONDARY" ) ) ), a!sideBySideItem( a!tagField( tags: a!tagItem( text: "German", backgroundColor: "SECONDARY" ) ) ), a!sideBySideItem( item: a!richTextDisplayField( value: a!richTextIcon( icon: "window-close", color: "SECONDARY", size: "MEDIUM", ), marginAbove: "LESS" ), width: "MINIMIZE

Here is the scenario:1) We have 2 different Appian applications running on the same instance2) Our organization policy requires us to have a SAML configuration per application, so we have 23) Each of these SAML configurations is configured to "Create new users upon sign in"4) The SSO Team passes the application name in the SAML attributesAppian displays the sign-in page and prompts the user to select the SAML configuration to use. We created Authentication Group rules to put someone in the group associated with the SAML config according to the attribute described in #4 above, but it does not work. The user gets 401 Unauthorized.

Hi everyone, I’m facing an issue with transferring my Appian certifications, Academy Online achievements, and badges from my current organization account to my personal account. I have already reached out to multiple teams, including Appian Technical Support, Appian Community, Academy Online support, and the Certifications team. I was informed that the request would be resolved within two working days. However, it has been longer than that, and I have not received any proper response or update despite multiple follow-ups. Has anyone faced a similar issue before? If so, could you please guide me on how to get this resolved or whom to contact for faster support? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Appian 24.1 My project receives a JSON document that is somewhere between 50 - 100 KB in size normally. We jamb it into a Record Type (as a json string), read it from a process model, convert this to a CDT (hierarchy), pass it to an interface (a hierarchy of them really). So far, all that we have built runs fine. Now we had a case where the JSON document was over 1 MB. This threw an error when we tried to write it to a record type. Apparently, there is a record size limit of 1 MB within Appian for tables that sync to record types. So, now we are looking at redesigning the data storage. Clearly, we need to break up/normalize the data into a set of relational tables (vs just 1 table as we have today). But from there I seem to have some options and I don't know what is best Option 1 - Read the record types within the process model and rebuild the JSON object so it may be passed to the interfaces. This moves the max size question from the table row to the process model variable. Can it

Hi Team, We are evaluating AI Skills/Generative AI usage in Appian and would like to monitor token consumption for optimization and cost governance purposes. I have a few questions: Is there a way to view the input tokens, output tokens, and total tokens consumed by an AI Skill execution? Does Appian expose token usage metrics at the AI Skill or process level? What is the recommended approach to track and analyze token usage for prompt optimization? Has anyone built a custom monitoring/dashboard solution to estimate token consumption for AI Skills and Agents? thanks in advance.
