DRAFT KB-XXXX Current Tasks process dashboard in /designer displays unrelated tasks

Symptoms

When navigating to the Processes tab in /designer in Appian 18.1 and earlier, selecting a process instance displays "Current Tasks" that are unrelated to the selected process. For example, a business-related process that has nothing to do with the Appian Health Check displays tasks related to the Appian Health check:

In addition, clicking Edit within the Current Tasks tab displays a name other than "Current Tasks for Process" (or the expected process report) in the Report Name field. In some cases, searching for "Current Tasks for Process" in /design returns no results.

One or more of the following symptoms exists:

  • When navigating to the Processes tab in /designer, clicking on a process instance displays unrelated tasks in the Current Tasks dashboard.
  • When navigating to the Processes tab in /designer, clicking on any process instance displays the same set of (unrelated) tasks.
    • When clicking Edit, the Report Options pop-up displays an unexpected report in the Report Name field.
  • Searching for the "Current Tasks for Process" report in /design returns no results.
  • Performing a reset of the analytics engines does not resolve the issue.

Cause

The intended system Task Report for these processes has been modified or deleted. If the object was deleted, the deletion should be recorded in the deletion.log file located at <APPIAN_HOME>/logs/.

Action

  1. Regenerate the Task Report using the Task Report Tutorial documentation, or import the Task Report from another environment that is on the same Appian version and hotfix.
  2. Navigate to the affected process instance in /designer, click Edit, and select the correct Task Report in the "Report Context" field of the "Report Options" pop-up. Click Save and refresh the Current Tasks dashboard.
