KB-1081 "The Home application could not be created, all users will default to their task views... UUID already exists" error when viewing certain pages in /designer

Symptoms

After a migration, users are unable to view the /designer interface. Attempting to view certain pages in /designer displays an error message stating that the report ID does not exist. The following error is found in the application server log during the start-up process:

ERROR com.appiancorp.applications.ApplicationsConfig - The Home application could not be created, all users will default to their task views.
com.appiancorp.suiteapi.common.exceptions.DuplicateUuidException: UUID already exists

Cause

The environment does not have the "Home" application, and is attempting to create a new one. However, there exist references, in parts of the system, where a previous "Home" application was already registered with the default UUID. This issue is caused when there is no data for the "Home" application in the collaboration engine. There is inconsistent data between the Appian engines.

Action

Examine the collaboration directory, <APPIAN_HOME>/server/collaboration/gw1/, to see if the correct collaboration kdb files were migrated correctly. Review the migration and upgrade step carefully again to ensure the proper steps were taken.

Affected Versions

This article applies to all versions of Appian.
