DRAFT KB-XXXX "Unable to decode KResponse" error while upgrading from Appian 18.2 to 18.3

Symptoms

When starting the Appian services, the process analytics engines remain in either in replaying or down state. The <APPIAN_HOME>/logs/service_manager.log displays the following error:

Unable to decoding KResponse

Cause

The error occurs when the data between the process analytics and process execution engines is out of sync.

Action

Reset the process analytics engines using the ResetAnalytics Script.

This article applies to Appian 17.3 and later.
