KB-XXXX How to enable and extract diagnostic logging in Appian for Mobile Devices

Purpose

Appian Technical Support may request diagnostic logging output from your iOS or Android device to troubleshoot an issue with the Appian for Mobile Devices application. This article details the steps required to enable and extract the diagnostic log so it can be shared with Appian Technical Support.

Instructions

iOS

  1. In Settings, locate the settings for the Appian application.
  2. Enable the "Show Diagnostics" option.
  3. Open the Appian for Mobile Devices application.
  4. Perform the steps requested to reproduce the issue for which diagnostic logging is needed.
  5. Navigate to the Account selector via the left hand menu.
  6. Select "Show Diagnostics".
  7. Select and copy the output by long pressing on it and e-mail it to an account accessible via a desktop computer.
  8. Save the output into a text file.
  9. Warning: Review the log for any PII and remove it if present.
  10. Upload the log output to the support case where it was requested.

Android

  1. Open the Appian for Mobile Devices application.
  2. Use the top left context menu and locate "Settings" in the menu.
  3. Locate the "Collect diagnostics" option and enable it.
  4. Perform the steps requested to reproduce the issue for which diagnostic logging is needed.
  5. Navigate back to the application settings.
  6. Select "Send diagnostics" and send them via e-mail or another option to a desktop computer.
  7. Save the output into a text file.
  8. Warning: Review the log for any PII and remove it if present.
  9. Upload the log output to the support case where it was requested.
