DRAFT KB-XXXX Appian object not searchable; Object found in Application Designer, but missing from objects tab

Symptoms

An Appian object is not searchable in any of the following locations:

  • The "Add Existing Objects" modal in the Application Designer.
  • The Objects tab in the Application Designer.
  • When Duplicating an Existing object in the Create object modal.

The Appian object is usually still searchable:

  • In the appropriate application in the Application Designer.

The affected object is usually visible in the appropriate application in the Application Designer, but not in the objects tab in the Application Designer.

The object may only be affected in one environment, but searchable in other environments.

Most other objects seem to be unaffected.

Affected objects still function properly, but are not searchable.

Workaround

  1. Export the affected object.
  2. Make a small change to the existing object.
  3. Re-import the package in the same environment.

The object will now be searchable in all appropriate search bars in the Application Designer.  The object will now be visible in the objects tab in the Application Designer.

Affected Versions

This article applies to Appian 16.3, 17.1, 17.2, 17.3, and 17.4.
