KB-1477 Appian objects are not searchable from the Objects tab in Appian Designer but still exist

This issue has been resolved in an Appian hotfix/new Appian version. Please apply the latest hotfix to your Appian installation or upgrade to the latest version of Appian.

Symptoms

An Appian object is not searchable in any of the following locations:

  • The "Add Existing Objects" modal in the Application Designer.
  • The Objects tab in the Application Designer.
  • When duplicating an existing object in the Create Object modal.

The Appian object is usually still searchable in the appropriate application in the Application Designer. The object may only be affected in one environment, but not in other environments. Most other objects seem to be unaffected. The objects that are not searchable still function properly.

Cause

This issue has been addressed via AN-98247 in the following hotfixes/versions:

Action

Apply the latest hotfix to your Appian installation.

Workaround

  1. Export the affected object.
  2. Make a small change to the existing object.
  3. Re-import the package in the same environment.

The object will now be searchable in all appropriate search bars in the Application Designer.  The object will now be visible in the objects tab in the Application Designer and when duplicating an existing object.

Affected Versions

This article applies to Appian 16.3 and later.
