DRAFT KB-XXXX 'Font Download' = Disabled setting in Internet Explorer causing Icons to not display

Symptoms

There are missing icons when browsing Tempo or Sites.  These icons are missing while using Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) with certain IE11 security settings enabled.

Some examples of possible missing icons are outlined below in red:

 

Cause

The affected icons do not render properly when using IE11 with either a security setting that has Font Download set to Disabled or a general IE11 security setting of High.

Action

To resolve the behavior, consider one of the following:

To modify the Font Download setting in IE11 to Enable:

  1. Using Microsoft Internet Explorer, open the Settings menu > Select Internet Options.
  2. In the Internet Options modal, Select the Security tab > Select the Custom Level... option in the Security level for this zone panel.
  3. In the Downloads section in the Security Settings modal, Select Enable for the Font Download setting.
  4. Select OK in the Security Settings modal.
  5. Select OK in the Internet Options modal.

To modify the general IE11 security setting to Medium-High or Medium:

  1. Using Microsoft Internet Explorer, open the Settings menu > Select Internet Options.
  2. In the Internet Options modal, Select the Security tab > Select the Custom Level... option in the Security level for this zone panel.
  3. In the Reset custom settings panel in the Security Settings modal, Select the appropriate option from the Reset to drop-down.
  4. Select OK in the Security Settings modal.
  5. Select OK in the Internet Options modal.
