DRAFT KB-XXXX Appian Cloud - End of Support for TLS 1.1

Change

Appian will be removing support for TLS 1.1 from Appian Cloud on 27 MARCH 2020.

In 2018, Apple, Google, Microsoft, and Mozilla all announced their intentions to deprecate Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.0 and 1.1 support from their web browsers in early 2020.  After March, Appian Cloud customers will be required to use TLS 1.2 and above for all communications with their Appian Cloud sites.

New Appian Cloud sites launched after 15 Jan 2020, regardless of version, will have TLS 1.1 disabled by default.

Impact

After this change any services or integrations that customers have configured that use TLS 1.1 or below will no longer work.

Testing

Customers can test their browser TLS 1.2 support by browsing to this Appian Cloud test site: https://TLStest.appiancloud.com. This site has TLS 1.1 disabled and customers can test to determine if their browser is compatible. If you can see the login page on this site then you are using TLS 1.2 or above.

Customers should review their Appian applications for any connections or integrations that utilize TLS 1.1 and update to TLS 1.2 or above.
